Grande Prairie Live Theatre (GPLT) has been at the heart of arts and culture in Northwestern Alberta since 1963. What began as a passionate group of community members has grown into one of Canada’s largest non-profit, volunteer-driven community theatres. For over six decades, we’ve been telling stories that entertain, inspire, and bring people together.
At GPLT, we believe theatre belongs to everyone. That’s why our mission is simple: to create high-quality, live entertainment that reflects the creativity, diversity, and spirit of our community. Whether you’re on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience, you’re part of the GPLT story.
Our downtown Grande Prairie theatre is more than just a stage—it’s a community hub. We host:
We present plays and musicals that highlight local talent while celebrating classic and contemporary theatre.
Artists from Grande Prairie, the Peace Region, and beyond take the stage, offering unforgettable nights of music.
From laughter-filled stand-up shows to film screenings and specialty events, there’s always something new to enjoy.
As one of the largest community theatres in the country, GPLT is recognized for its artistic excellence and grassroots spirit. We’re proud to represent Grande Prairie on the provincial and national stage through festivals, awards, and collaborations. You can audition, volunteer, become a member, or simply enjoy an evening in the audience. Every ticket purchased and every hour volunteered helps keep live theatre thriving in our community.
