What is Rising Stars?
The Rising Stars program is led by talented local artists from our very own theatre community. These instructors not only teach and guide the students, they also write original plays specifically for each week of camp! At the end of every session, campers perform these short plays for friends and family, giving them the chance to shine on stage.
Our instructors help keep everything running smoothly. They greet students each day, organizing games, warm-ups, and creative activities for the students! Many of our instructors are former Rising Stars themselves who returned out of passion for the fun, welcoming, and supportive environment Rising Stars promotes!
Each week is themed around a unique play, which students spend their time learning. Students will explore acting skills, storytelling, and working together to bring an original story to life on stage. The goal isn’t just performance; it’s growth, creativity, and a love of theatre.

Rising Stars is a place where we value theatre education and it’s impact on youth voices and identity. Our education program strives to help youth meet likeminded artists and grow their own artistic practice and voice!
Our Purpose
Rising Stars is a summer theatre school dedicated to teaching the youth in Grande Prairie and surrounding areas the power of their voice in art. We teach the fundamental building blocks of theatre education, theatre games, and help youth experience their first theatre family!
We strive to create and maintain an inclusive environment that focuses on allowing youth to find who they are as artists and to grow in that world. Rising Stars is not an audition-based program. It is all about serious fun, growth, and development.
