About the Role
The Grande Prairie Live Theatre is now accepting applications for three (3) Instructor positions for our 2026 Rising Star Summer Drama Program.
Rising Stars is a summer theatre school dedicated to teaching the youth in Grande Prairie and surrounding areas the power of their voice in art. We teach the fundamental building blocks of acting, improvisation, creative movement, voice, sound, storytelling, and playwriting. The Instructors also facilitate their students in developing a final presentation, which is performed for friends and family on the final day of camp. The Grande Prairie Live Theatre strives to create and maintain an inclusive environment that focuses on allowing youth to find who they are as artists and to grow in that world.
The Instructors will work under the guidance of the General Manager to assist in program development and be responsible for the overall execution and creation of the curriculum. Instructors will also work closely with Grande Prairie Live Theatre administrative and support staff.
Successful Applicants Will
- Lead daily camp activities, ensuring a fun, safe, and inclusive environment
- Instruct young people between the ages of 7 – 14 and have had previous experience in this area
- Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, students, and Grande Prairie Live Theatre staff
- Have a solid understanding of the creative theatre process and have experience and/or education in this area
- Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Display strong communicative and interpersonal skills
- Have motivation to learn how to operate theatre technical equipment
- Some experience with graphic design is an asset
- Be committed to the creative development and the theatrical education of the participants
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be youth aged 18 to 30 years
- Full daytime availability from May – August 2026 (Monday–Friday)
- Clear Valid Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Intervention Record Check
- At least one term or semester of a post-secondary Drama/Theatre class and/or Education class is an asset
- Experience working with youth with special needs and behaviour management is an asset
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification is an asset
