Play Synopsis:
A tailoring shop on the edge of foreclosure offers its owner one desperate, overnight shot at saving everything he’s built. Even as an eviction notice threatens to unravel ten years of painstaking work, Chike learns what it actually costs to stitch a life back together by hand. Finding humor and ache in equal measure in an unglamorous make-or-break night of suit jacket alterations, Stitches is a warm, clear-eyed ode to pride, forgiveness, and the family we choose. If a tailor’s shop is where cut or torn clothes get seamed, then Chike threads the same stubborn hope — mending his heart with the ex he never stopped loving, tacking himself back together with the seamstress who never left, and hanging on by a pin with a shop assistant too young to know better. A testament to the quiet dignity of immigrant entrepreneurship, Stitches offers up a night sewn from heartbreak, humor, and the hard-won art of starting over.
